Missed Appointments
A missed appointment by a patient on the surface may seem to be a very trivial matter, but upon closer inspection, one recognizes the tremendous impact this action has on the practice. The most obvious problem is that a patient's missed appointment disrupts the flow of patient care for the doctor and staff. More importantly, a missed appointment is a time which could be used to see a patient in need of emergent care. Additionally, to meet the health care goals of the patient and doctor, it is essential to ensure that the patient receive continuity of care to prevent possible complications.
We understand your time is valuable, so we will make every effort to be on time. Our time is also valuable so we expect you to keep your appointment. If you are unable to keep your appointment, we require a 24-hour notice. Any cancellation without 24-hours notice and any missed appointment will result in a charge of $75 for new appointments and $50 for return appointments.
Meet the Staff
Vickie - Office Manager
Doc's wife, Vickie, is more than just the Office Manger. She has a degree in Medical Technology, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Delaware in 1987. Vickie oversees all facets of the administrative aspects of the office, allowing Dr. Howard to fully concentrate on the latest wound care technologies, surgical techniques and provision of patient care. Doc often states that if Vickie was not around to run the office, he wouldn't be either! Vickie and Howard met while working at the Wilmington VA in 1991. Vickie was working mainly in the microbiology and hematology laboratories while Howard was a resident. Her background at the VA, in addition to working at the A.I. DuPont clinical laboratory, and running a physician-owned laboratory, gives Vickie a well rounded view of all clinical and administrative areas of private practice. They spend almost all of their free time together, enjoying the dogs, cats, gardens and sailing. Vickie's beautiful gardens, which she takes much pride in, can be seen in the photo album in the office.
Morgan - Clinical Supervisor
Morgan joined our team in July 2008. She started as a patient assistant and now she is our clinical supervisor. She's a "jack of all trades" and lends a hand where ever needed. Morgan was married to her husband Neil in August 2009 and they have a Chihuahua named Tinkerbell. They spend as many summer weekends as possible camping, going to the beach, and working on car club events. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, being outdoors and scrapbooking.
Jo - Podiatric Medical Assistant, Certified
Jo joined our practice in October 2006 after her husband's company transferred him to Maryland. She was born and raised in England and loves talking about our Veterans of their time over there. In August 2007, she successfully passed her certification exam and is now a Certified Podiatric Medical Assistant. She enjoys taking care of patients in our preventative foot care service, assisting in the procedure room, and performing x-rays. In her spare time she does scrapbooking and spends time with her daughter Ashlie, husband Tim and miniature Schnauzer Max. She also loves horses and used to teach English riding.
Sarah - Patient Assistant
Sarah started with the practice in February 2008. She is currently taking classes at Harford Community College and plans to graduate in the spring of 2011. Sarah is hoping to graduate with a degree in medical assisting. She enjoys being outside, doing yoga, and riding her horse Raven. She also owns a Chihuahua, Paco. Her favorite time of the year is in the spring when the flowers start to bloom and she can go horse riding.
Deb Kohler - Administrative Assistant
Debbie started with the Harford Lower Extremity Family in November 2009. She has been working in the medical field for about 15 years and enjoys interacting and helping patients in any way she can to make their visit a comfortable and smooth process. Currently she is working as an Administrative Assistant helping with insurance verification and patient scheduling. She is continuing to broaden her knowledge of podiatric medicine, training in the clinic area for direct patient interaction.
Debbie is married to her husband Ken and they have 3 grown children and 2 grandchildren. She enjoys spending time with her family, walking the MA & PA trail in Bel Air, gardening, and home improvement. Recently she and her husband bought a Harley Davidson, something very new for them! They are learning and enjoying their new "hobby", it's their together time away from the household chores.
