Doc's wife, Vickie, is more than just the Office Manger. She has a degree in Medical Technology, graduating Magna Cum Laude from the University of Delaware in 1987. Vickie oversees all facets of the administrative aspects of the office, allowing Dr. Howard to fully concentrate on latest wound care technologies, surgical techniques and provision of patient care. Doc often states that if Vickie was not around to run the office, he wouldn't be either! Vickie and Howard met while working at the Wilmington VA in 1991. Vickie was working mainly in the microbiology and hematology laboratories while Howard was a resident. Her background at the VA, in addition to working at the A.I. DuPont clinical laboratory, and running a physician-owned laboratory, gives Vickie a well rounded view of all clinical and administrative areas of private practice. They spend almost all of their free time together, enjoying the dogs, cats, gardens and sailing. Vickie's beautiful gardens, which she takes much pride in, can be seen in the photo album in the office.

Chrissy started work in August, 2003. Chrissy has a gift for making the patients laugh and feel at ease. She successfully passed her certification test in August 2004, and is a fully certified Clinical Podiatric Assistant. She performs palliative foot services, is an OR circulator, wound care assistant to Dr. Schultheiss, and assists with digital x-rays and Doppler examinations. She lives with her family in Street, Maryland and loves her cat "Lanie."

Jo joined our office in October 2006. Originally from England, Jo is a new resident of Maryland by way of Las Vegas, Arkansas, New York and Ohio. She is Vickie's administrative assistant, but has been known to "pitch in" where ever necessary, even assisting in the OR! She enjoys scrap-booking in her spare time and loves spending time with her daughter, Ashlie, Miniature Schnauzer, Max and husband Tim. She also enjoys riding horses and used to teach riding in England.

Missed Appointments

A missed appointment by a patient on the surface may seem to be a very trivial matter, but upon closer inspection, one recognizes the tremendous impact this action has on the practice. The most obvious problem is that a patient's missed appointment disrupts the flow of patient care for the doctor and staff. More importantly, a missed appointment is a time which could be used to see a patient in need of emergent care. Additionally, to meet the health care goals of the patient and doctor, it is essential to ensure that the patient receive continuity of care to prevent possible complications.

We understand your time is valuable, so we will make every effort to be on time. Our time is also valuable so we expect you to keep your appointment. If you are unable to keep your appointment, we require a 24-hour notice. Any cancellation without 24-hours notice and any missed appointment will result in a charge of $75 for new appointments and $50 for return appointments.
